daredo media’s latest Darling Berlin movie “Schmitke” is to be released on DVD on April, 29th and is now available in well-assorted stores and VOD platforms.
The tragicomic thriller tells the story of Julius Schmitke, played by the marvellous Peter Kurth. In Schmitke ‘s life, there is something lurking behind the bushes. Some mysterious growling from the forest, from deep within… When he is sent to the Czech-German border to repair a similarly unfortunate old windmill, things start to get strange. Very, very strange.
The director of the movie, Štěpán Altrichter said: “The film is based on a short story by the writer and screenwriter Tomáš Končinský entitled “Julius Schmitke slipped through death’s fingers like an awkward seal”, which immediately captured my interest. It is a story set somewhere between comedy and mystery, somewhere in the fog of the Ore Mountains, full of the atmosphere of this mysterious stretch of land, its history and its people. But first of all it’s the story of the inner world of an aging, clumsy man who is unable to participate in the world arround him. He shows us a feeling that we all know in today’s ultra-fast virtual world. It’s a journey into the mind of an unfortunate man, which makes us feel what we don’t allow ourselves to feel that much anymore.”
“Imagination of the Shape” is the slogan ot Plastic City’s current release period. The future of the label is the past and present. Or the present is the future. It depends how you look at it. Plastic City has always meant development. We will stay true our policy of releasing but quality tracks which can be heard and played in years to come. Maybe the upcoming releases will show you this again…
The “Bullets” contains tracks and remixes from none less than Terry Lee Brown Junior, Gorge, SIS, Ruede Hagelstein, Robert Babicz, Smalltown Collective, Phonique & Tigerskin, Ray Okpara, Nikola Gala, Plastik Funk and many more

This year’s achtung berlin Festival – which is one of the most important festivals for independent cinema productions in Germany – has turned out to be a successful one for daredo and its movies and actors: our newest Darling Berlin movie “Lotte” by Julius Schultheiß has won the 1st prize in the category Best Feature Film!
Congratulations to the director and the whole team – daredo media will release the Darling Berlin movie “Lotte” in cinemas in Germany in the near future.
“Lotte” tells the story of a young woman who has left her hometown and lives in Berlin, stumbling from one man to another, from one flat to another, and is suddenly confronted with her past…
More information coming soon on www.darlingberlin.de.
Another great success is the award for Best Actress, which goes to Lana Cooper – well-known from our first film “Love Steaks” (2013). Lana plays the leading role of Lara Schmelzer, a young and wild woman who works in a luxury hotel kitchen and encounters with Clemens, a shy massage therapist… Congratulations, Lana!
And, not to forget Hans-Heinrich Hardt, another actor who achieved credits for an outstanding performance in „Luca’s Silent Dance” (German: „Luca tanzt leise“) by Philipp Eichholtz, a film which is also to be released by daredo media on Darling Berlin in the near future.
We are very happy for our directors and actors and look forward to this year’s upcoming theatrical releases „Lotte“ and “Luca tanzt leise”.

The latest project of German independent shooting star Philipp Eichholtz, “Luca tanzt leise” (English: “Luca’s Silent Dance”) is one of the feature films taking part in this year’s competition for the ‘new berlin film award’. The movie is “a little love-letter to all those whose biggest struggle is to get up in the morning every day. For those who need all their energy to manage the small things in life”, says Philipp. Here is a short synopsis: After a dark period in her life, Luca (Martina Schöne-Radunski) decides to finally finish her A-levels. Her little dog Mata brings her joy and mental support during that difficult time. In order to pass her math exam, she sets up a deal with Kurt: they will help each other.
We wish Philipp the best of luck for the competition and look forward to taking this gem of German independent cinema to the movie theaters.
The Film festival achtung berlin – new berlin film award presents an entire week full of fresh new movies from the capital: from April 13 to April 20, 2016 over 80 full-length, medium-length, short films and documentaries can be watched on the big screens. All films have been produced and shot in Berlin-Brandenburg.
The Competition Made in Berlin-Brandenburg is the heart of the festival and showcases the most exciting films of this season – including award-winning feature films, political documentaries and (cutting-edge) short films. All films will be presented as first releases, German or Berlin premieres with attendance of the film crew and cast. The brand new section Berlin Coproductions gives international film productions in partnership with Berlin-Brandenburg a new platform to present their work. The film sections Highlights and Documents offer a broad place for new creative talents and strong topics – from ‘Kiezdoku’ (documentaries from the ‘hoods’ of Berlin) to Genre-Thrillers. The section Retrospective “Berlin in Fashion” invites movie fans to follow the history of Berlin’s Fashion in the 20th Century at the ‚Bundesplatz’ Cinema in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.
Exciting workshops, panel discussions and film parties provide a platform and networking space for the young creative Berlin film scene to exchange their ideas.
The Berlin based label Darling Berlin (daredo media) is a sponsoring partner as well as the price donor for the best actress and actor this year. Furthermore, the digital motion pictures aggregator daredo distribution, based in Frankfurt and Mannheim, is responsible for the achtung berlin YouTube channel.
