During filming for her final project, five film students watch a mysterious fireball shooting down the sky and then hitting the horizon far away. Convinced that it is a meteorite, they are on the way to the assumed impact point, in order to document the phenomenon with their cameras. In a remote forest area they find a burnt snow. Since it is already too dark to film, they set themselves up for the night. The next morning they must realize that one of them is missing. In the search for the missing, they first encounter a bloodstain and then make a horrible find: the tattered remains of their friend. When the students want to return to the car in panic, they get lost and get deeper and deeper into the wilderness. They soon realize that they are not alone there – for something is hunting for them. Something that is not of this world …

From the makers of the surprise hit “The Presence”! Cool German Horrorkino with Laura Berlin ( “Rubinrot”, Prince Pi “1,40”)!

Lotte is direct and rough around the edges, yet still always amiable – but above all, she is equipped with a typical Berlin-style big mouth. With this character attributes, she sometimes gets in trouble: at work, with her friends, and even with her boyfriend, who throws her out, unceremoniously. So, Lotte is looking for a place to sleep and shows up at work in the hospital with her suitcase. There, after a chaotic day, she meets fifteen-year-old Greta, who seems to be very grown-up and they make friends, gently. But when Lotte sees Greta together with Marcel, a friend from her suppressed past, and their glances meet, she knows that there will be no escape. Something seems to grow together here, which doesn’t belong together. However, Lotte would not be Lotte if she didn’t save her neck, in her very special and unconventional way, even in this situation. At least for the moment…

“Lotte” has won the grand jury prize for Best Movie at the 2016 edition of the new berlin film award ‘achtung berlin’ – by unanimous decision. “It’s the small moments that make Julius Schultheiß’s debut as director something very special and present a cinema we really would like to see more of in Germany. A great movie, produced completely independent from film subsidy and participation of TV stations.”
